There was a split second decision he had to make once he grabbed the printer: fight or flight. His friend’s lucky, they almost to a printer to the skull too.
I’m going to assume you are talking about the CS rape culture arguement post I made awhile ago. [x]
I’m assuming that your argument is that SQ finds the fight scene in S1 sexy and CS finds Hook’s violence toward women sexy because as human beings are attracted to animalistic behavior. If I am wrong in my assumption please clarify and I will answer again.
"The fact is we’re animals and like animals violence often leads to hot sex. Passion."
This sentence is very problematic for me. We are not supposed to except violence to lead to sexual actions. That shouldn’t be the default. If Hook can behave the way he does and still get the girl without really changing his behavior, or just redirecting his “passions” onto one person, that sends the wrong message. We collectively as a society should not be taught that “violence” is how you get the girl. I would have been much more forgiving of Hook if - like Regina - he tried be a better person. Regina sent Henry away at the beginning of S2 because she knew that she had made mistakes. Hook just did the things he thought Emma would want him to. He didn’t do his good deeds for Neal, Henry, or Charming. He did them because they had a connection to Emma, and he wanted Emma.
Hook never made a grand speech like Rumple made to Belle about Emma seeing a good man in him. He said:
"When I win your heart, and I will win it, it won’t be because of any trickery. It will be because you want me.”
When he threw Emma to ground, he was the one who made it sexual.
"I prefer to do more enjoyable things with a woman on her back." "When I jab with my sword you’ll feel it."
SQ adopted the idea of Regina/Emma’s aggression as sexual tension (as I have.) But no where in the dialogue was their bickering made sexually violent. Neither Regina or Emma took ownership of either person while throwing each other around or getting in each other’s faces.
- They have been portrayed as two equal yet opposing forces having violent outbursts.
- They are two strong independent women who get frustrated, angry, and sad over the same things.
- They are two sides of the same coin.
Their arguments are not about theoretical sex, which is what can make it sexy.
- They fought over Henry in S1, when in reality, they were both Henry’s mothers.
- The end of S1, Emma threw her against the wall, and wanted Regina to admit she was the Evil Queen. When in reality, she couldn’t admit she was the savior.
In my opinion, that is the proper way to display aggressive sexual attraction. Most importantly, the arguments can’t be about sex. With Regina and Emma, they are sparing over things that they have in common - Emma’s magic, their past, etc. All things they can find common ground on. If Regina and Emma getting into a shouting match ends in them finding a greater understanding for each other, a deeper bond, and a physical attraction I don’t see the problem with that.
Hook’s aggression is very much rooted in how far he can get with a woman before they hit him back - and they have. It’s about taking advantage of them, getting them drunk, holding them at knife point, and propositioning one woman for sex just to make another woman jealous. He is never fighting with Emma. It’s always against her. But he is the man, and man gets what he wants. Emma doesn’t have a choice in the matter. He will woo her into submission because he is “a dashing rapscallion.”
So in short, sexually motivated violence leading to sex should not be the norm. We are more evolved than that. However, two equal forces in a love/hate relationship slowly finding common ground while bickering - some that lead to physical altercations - is another matter entirely.
Oh holy god.
It’s back! YES!
I am so jealous that this fandom has this gifset.
george takei is a gift to humanity
I have not seen anyone mention the fact that if Emma is Killian Jones’ True Love, the curse of her losing her magic would not have worked.
True Love is protective of the individuals it covers. It could not directly be made to do harm…At least…
When shows come off their hiatus
this is the best thing i’ve seen all day
